SASO CIVIL AVIATION COMMITTEE MEETING

The Civil Aviation Commission (CAC) Meeting of the Southern African Aviation Safety Organisation (SASO) was held from 18 to 19 March 2025 in Mbabane, Kingdom of Eswatini, with the aim of promoting safety and efficiency in civil aviation in the region, as well as strengthening ties between member countries.



This important event, organised by SASO and chaired by the Republic of Zimbabwe as part of its rotating presidency of SADC, was opened by the Principal Secretary for Public Works and Transport of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Thulani Mkhaliphi, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of collaboration between member countries to strengthen civil aviation in southern Africa.

The meeting's main agenda items are the approval of the Three-Year Financial Plan and Budget Estimates for 2025/2026, the implementation of the 2024/25 Work Plan, the Work Plan proposal for 2025/26, as well as SASO's Investment Plan, the filling of a vacancy for Deputy Executive Director and the proposal for SASO's Performance Management Policy.

The Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), Amélia Domingues Kuvíngua, represented the country at the meeting, which was also  attended by delegations from the Civil Aviation Authorities of the Republic of South Africa, the Republic of Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Kingdom of Eswatini, the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Republic of Malawi, the Republic of Mozambique, the Republic of Namibia, the Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Zimbabwe.
