The National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) participated this Thursday (August 13th) at the ORAT Challenge – Simulation of Transfer of Airport Operations, an initiative promoted by AviJOVEM – Association of Young People in Favor of Aviation – which brought together students from higher education institutions in Angola for a practical experience on the challenges associated with the preparation and transfer of airport operations.

Rebeca Manuel, Finance Director of ANAC witnessed the event, simultaneously representing the Secretary of State for the Civil, Maritime and Port Aviation Sectors, Adilson Alves Catala and the President of the Board of Directors of ANAC, Amélia Domingues Kuvíngua.

The initiative focused on the practical application of the ORAT – Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer methodology, a methodology that allows structuring and coordinating the preparation of an airport for the start or transfer of its operations, involving different areas and stakeholders.

During the challenge, the competing groups shared possible solutions related to airport operations, security, technology, passenger service, baggage management and operational control, demonstrating the importance of articulation between different areas to ensure safe, efficient and organized transfer processes.

For closure, Rebeca Manuel handed the certificate to the Alpha Group, winner of this edition of the ORAT Challenge.

The relevance of the ORAT methodology to Angola has been particularly evident in the process of transferring operations from 4 de Fevereiro International Airport to Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, with the different phases of this transfer following this same mechanism, with the aim of ensuring the readiness of infrastructures, systems and human capital, ensuring a safe and successful transition.

ANAC's participation reinforces the importance of bringing together institutions in the aeronautical sector and higher education institutions, promoting knowledge, innovation and skills development among young people who intend to contribute to the future of Angolan civil aviation.
