The 4th Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS 2025) of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), organised in partnership with the General Authority of Civil Aviation of the United Arab Emirates, came to an end yesterday, 12 February, in Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates. The closing ceremony was directed by Juan Carlos Salazar, ICAO's Secretary General, who reiterated ICAO's commitment of continuing to support States in developing capacities, recognising the sector's relevance for the development of countries, and warned about the challenges identified as priorities for achieving a sustainable aviation industry. During the three-day symposium, participants discussed topical issues such as artificial intelligence, aviation sustainability and training for professionals in the sector. During the Symposium's official closing ceremony, the Kingdom of Morocco was nominated to host the 5th Global Symposium to Support the Implementation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (GISS 2026) in 2026. GISS 2025 brought together more than 1,500 participants, representatives of ICAO's 193 Member States, Ministers responsible for Civil Aviation, Heads and General Managers of Civil Aviation Authorities, including experts, senior government officials, CEOs of leading companies in these vital sectors of aviation, sustainable energy, as well as various exhibitors. |
