The National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), in partnership with the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), is holding a workshop on the Evaluation of Travel Documents on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd April at the Aeronautical Training Centre (CAI).

The initiative aims to strengthen the technical skills of airline professionals and check-in support staff responsible for checking and validating travel documents. The event aims to help prevent document fraud, facilitate the flow of passengers and strengthen security at points of entry and exit from national territory.

This action is in line with the international standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), namely Annex 9 on Facilitation, as well as with national legislation on air transport, stipulated in Presidential Decree no. 61/25 of 07 March.

At the opening session, ANAC's Administrator for the Security Area, Dr Emanuel Candengue, highlighted the importance of continuous training for professionals in the sector and mentioned the executive order that exempts citizens from 98 countries from the visa requirement to Angola. He also mentioned the importance of the API-PNR project in modernising migration control processes and facilitating air transport:
‘I see all the necessary ingredients to Angola, from the point of view of facilitation, become a benchmark for the coming days. But in order for this to happen, we need trained people,’ he emphasised.

The event is being attended by national SME specialists, representatives of all the air companies operating in Angola, as well as employees from the areas of facilitation and civil aviation security.

The workshop is part of the preparatory actions for the ICAO Security Audit Against Acts of Unlawful Interference (USAP-CMA), which will be held in Angola between the 16th and 25th of June 2025.
