The National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) participated, from 4 to 5 September 2025, in the 42nd High-Level Meeting of Instructions and Coordination with the Heads, Directors and Board of Directors of various Member States of the African Civil Aviation Commission (CAFAC) held in Kigali, Republic of Rwanda. The debates focused on the implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), where progress achieved, main challenges and the path for the future were analysed, as well as the impact of the free movement of people in Africa, with particular reference to Rwanda's experience. Preparations and strategies for the 42nd Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) were also discussed, with emphasis on the review of working documents from the region's Member States and other international organisations. The coordination between African countries was another important topic, covering logistical issues, the designation of CAFAC focal points, the Assembly schedule, financial contributions, voting rules and the definition of joint strategies. The meeting ended with the adoption of a declaration on the implementation of SAATM, reinforcing the commitment of Member States in the region to promote greater integration by consolidating competitive, safe and efficient air transport. ANAC was represented by the Operations Administrator, Captain Manuel Dantas Gonçalves, who accompanied the summit's discussions on key issues for the future of African civil aviation. ANAC's participation reaffirms Angola's role in strengthening international cooperation and boosting the development of an increasingly solid African civil aviation system. |
