The National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) held the SAR (Search and Rescue) Technical Coordination Meeting on Thursday (24) at the Aeronautical Training Centre (CAI). The meeting focused on improving SAR alert response procedures, operationalising the National Integrated Search and Rescue Commission (CNIBS) and preparing for the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) validation mission.

The opening session was chaired by ANAC's Safety Administrator, Emanuel Candengue, who emphasised the importance of coordination between the different bodies that make up the search and rescue system. In his speech, he underlined Angola's commitment to the international standards of safety and operational efficiency defined by ICAO, emphasising the definition of the SPOC (SAR Contact Point) concluding that the only challenge is work in an integrated manner.

During the meeting, highly relevant topics were discussed, such as the balance of SAR activities carried out in 2024, the results of the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP-CMA) audit, and the strategic plan for SAR actions planned for 2025.

Representatives from the National Air Force, the Navy, the National Air Navigation Company (ENNA), the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics of Angola (INAMET), the Airport Management Company (SGA) and the airline TAAG took part in the panel discussions and made important technical contributions.

Through this initiative, ANAC reaffirmed its commitment to the continuous improvement of the search and rescue system and to the strengthening of operational safety in the Angola Republic's airspace.
